Creative Live! Cam Optia AF - AF As in Autofocus...........
There are those who can’t afford a HD camcorder to make themselves the next YouTube star. Short of robbing the next door’s 80 year old neighbor, this webcam is almost the next best thing. The Live! Cam has another confidence vote from Creative which gave the USB camera a massive overhaul. The new Optia AF moves up from a 1.3 to a 2.0 megapixel glass sensor and is the first of its kind to have autofocus. Also new are dual microphone and ambient noise reduction. The AF, like its predecessor, can sit atop any types of LCD or CRT monitors, tilt a full 270 degrees, and supports USB Video Class.
Focus range starts at 7 cm to infinity, and field of view maxes out at 63 degrees. While Creative crank up the megapixel numbers, USB 2.0 can really only stream in uncompressed RAW at around 960×720 at 24fps, which requires approximately 388Mbps from the host. So, the Creative Optia AF is capped at 640×480 at 30fps RGB24/YUY2 so it won’t take away too much banwidth from the controller.
The Wave also provides a function to put the PC into sleep mode. No word on availability and pricing
